Keep on in Good Conscience

The Apostle Peter appeals to his readers to maintain a good conscience.  This was especially important in being always ready to give the reason for the hope within them.  This hope was grounded in Jesus as the example for Christians to follow: he died in the flesh, was made alive in spirit, and has gone to heaven.  Peter encourages these suffering believers to know the truth that even though they might experience death physically as followers of Jesus, they too would be made alive in spirit and be raised to heaven as promised.
