The Apostle Peter addresses the suffering that Christians in Asia Minor were experiencing because of their faith in Christ.  He reminds them of the sufferings of their Lord and that they should not be surprised to suffer since He suffered.  They are exhorted to entrust themselves to a faithful God.  We have much to learn from this passage when we encounter difficult times.  The advice would be the same: entrust yourself to God!
