Looking for an opportunity to serve?
The service team seeks to share the love of God with our community and the world by meeting people where they are and meeting practical needs.
Abiding Presence Food Pantry
2nd and 4th Saturdays from 7:45-11:45 a.m.
Knollwood is teaming/partnering with Abiding Presence Food Ministries to serve our local community. The food pantry provides food for local families on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Recently they have served up to 200 families on a Saturday and need assistance. Volunteers are needed to distribute food on pantry day, two Saturdays each month.
Volunteers needed for distribution must be at least 18 years old. The hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Food is provided at an outdoor drive-through station as well as inside at a farmers market where folks can pick and choose what they need.
- The food pantry observes all COVID 19 safety protocols.
- Abiding Presence Lutheran Church is located at 6304 Lee Chapel Rd, Burke, VA 22015
Weekday Two Hour Shifts
Abiding Presence also needs weekday volunteers (ages 18+) to assist in packing bags and performing an inventory of the donations. They’re asking for two hour shifts any day Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
If you wish to join in these efforts or have any questions, please contact Glenn Keller.
Hospitality
Sunday Morning Coffee & Snacks
Did you know that we have coffee available every Sunday before church in the foyer? And on the 1st Sunday of the month, we have yummy treats to enjoy as well! We are in need of volunteers to help us run this hospitality ministry. If you are interested, email Mary Mendez.
Making Meals
There are many ways to show someone you care...and one of those ways is through food! We are putting together a list of people we can call on when someone in our church family needs a meal - because of a new baby, a serious illness, or during the loss of a loved one. If you'd like to be on this list, please email Mary Mendez.
Properties Ministry
Support Needed
We value the facilities and grounds the Lord has provided us here at Knollwood. We are working on building a team of folks willing to pitch in and help on projects and needs as they arise related to our property. Professionals, amateur DIY'ers, or those with no fix-it skills at all are welcome. If you do have particular ability in the trades (e.g, plumbing, sheet rock, etc.) let David Oakley know that when you call or email. Thank you to those who have already volunteered!
NOTE: If you are interested in leading an effort involving the congregation, please email Glenn Keller for assistance in coordinating and advertising the event with staff.
