In Peter’s letter, he encourages these believers who were experiencing various trials and difficulties to keep on in holiness. It’s easy to get discouraged and to “slide” or “coast” in our commitment to holiness. As we come to understand more and more what it is to be loved unconditionally by God, demonstrated by his Son, Jesus, and his death for us, we respond in obedience to him.
