This statement often shows up when a situation looks hopeless. Alongside comes a well-meaning friend or a self-appointed counselor or even a religious huckster with these words: “If you just had enough faith….” The implication is that with enough faith cancer can be beat, death can be cheated, any problem solved. But is that really true? Is that what the Bible really says? And is that what faith is really for?
