Church leaders were dealing with various heresies regarding the identity of Jesus when they crafted The Apostles’ Creed in the mid-second century.  The answer to the question of centuries ago: “Who is Jesus?” is still being debated in our day.  These leaders based their answer on apostolic teaching, and we today need to also base our views on what is regarded as Holy Scripture, reflecting the teachings of apostolic authority.
