Topic: New Testament Letters

Paul concludes this lengthy section on the subject of idolatry by pointing back to the experiences of the people of Israel.  He shows that, though they were blessed by God, they were not spared God’s judgment and discipline when they sinned.  This is a warning to the Corinthian believers to be careful not to fall back into idolatry.  The issue then was eating meat sacrificed to idols.  We probably cannot relate to that today in the 21st century, but idolatry is still a danger even for believers in our time and in our culture.
