In First Corinthians, chapter four, Paul presents four pictures of how he, Apollos and other apostles should be viewed by the believers in Corinth. They are: servants, stewards, a spectacle and a father. This message examines the latter two. Paul contrasts the “superior” view the Corinthians held about themselves with that of the apostles, whom God called to a life of suffering, deprivation and death. Then he appeals to them as their “spiritual father” in the faith, that they would imitate his life as a means of knowing the way of Christ.
