Passage: John 12

When we come to chapter 12 in John’s Gospel, we are in the home stretch. It is very near the end for our Lord. Enroute to Jerusalem, Jesus and his disciples stop in Bethany, home to Mary, Martha and Lazarus (whom Jesus raised from the dead). We see in Mary’s actions three wonderful things about her love for Jesus, the same three things that God demonstrates in his relationship with his friends, those who believe in his Son.
Things to watch for in reading John 13:
1) What do you learn from Jesus’ example of serving his disciples? Where can you apply his lesson of serving others?
2) What is the commandment Jesus gives to his disciples? How does loving others indicate that we are Jesus’ disciple?
