The fourth witness to the identity of Jesus given by Mark at the beginning of his Gospel is that of God the Father. And in the giving of the Spirit at Jesus’ baptism, there is a wonderful application and parallel to God’s giving of the Spirit to every person who believes in Jesus. Mark then begins to demonstrate the authority of Jesus in his life and ministry. Here in Mark, chapter one, we see his authority over Satan, over men, and over spirits.
