“Camels, Needles and the Rich”
When Jesus said: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom,” it left the disciples scratching their heads. They asked Jesus, “Then who can be saved?” Since to them God blessed the righteous with riches, if that person couldn’t enter the Kingdom, then who could? Jesus put his finger on the problem of this rich young ruler. Today, he puts his finger on whatever has become one’s god, whatever is the barrier to entering the Kingdom.
