This is the heart of the Creed’s statement about Jesus. It is the “heart” because it speaks of the purpose for which God became man, that is, to deal with the issue of sin and fulfill God’s redemptive plan – a plan that had its origins within the eternal council of the Godhead before God ever created the universe.
