Paul uses the example of the churches of Macedonia to spur the Corinthians on in the follow-through of their commitment to take a collection to assist believers in the Jerusalem church.   These believers lived out several principles of giving that are instructive for us today: the principles of stewardship, sacrifice, proportionality, and motive.  Oh that Christians today would give such evidence to the grace of God in their lives in giving as those in Macedonia did!
