Having followed the Law’s requirement of circumcision at eight days where Jesus formally receives his name, Mary and Joseph travel to Jerusalem. While there to perform two important duties required under the Law, they encounter two individuals where Jesus is affirmed as the promised Messiah. These two, Simeon and Anna, also teach us about faithfulness in service over the long haul – a challenge for all those who have trusted in Jesus as the Christ.
