Life is difficult; life is unpredictable. Life encounters adversity. The real question isn’t, “Will you face difficulties?” It is, rather, “How will you deal with difficulties when they come?” David was well-acquainted with adversity. And we can learn from his example, in his writing of Psalm 27. The key for David was trusting in the God who wasn’t held hostage to his adverse circumstances.
