Faith: What It Is; What It Isn't

Topic: Faith

The writer of the New Testament book of Hebrews makes this significant statement: “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” If faith is that important, then it is imperative that we understand what faith is. The Bible doesn’t really define faith; rather, it describes and illustrates faith. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith in two parallel ways: a sense of assurance within us and a certainty of realities unseen by our human eyes. Understanding what faith is, and what it is not, forms the foundation of seeing faith demonstrated in the lives of those who are listed in the “Hall of Faith” (Hebrews, chapter 11).
