Joshua leads the Israelite army in their quest to conquer the land God had promised them and had said that He had given to them.   God told them that He would drive out their enemies “little by little.”  The conquest would be a slow process; it would be accomplished in a steady and strategic manner.  For the believer today, the process of possessing the land (salvation) promised to us is also a slow one.  It requires a steady effort; it means perseverance.  The God who empowered the Israelites to possess the Promised Land and enter their rest is the same God who empowers us to possess our salvation and to enter our rest.
