To Marry or Not To Marry

June 2, 2013 Speaker: Mark Petersburg Series: 1 Corinthians

Topic: New Testament Letters

From answering a question about marriage from members of the Church in Corinth, Paul moves on to address the status of those not married.  Before giving his guidance on whether or not they should marry, he talks about the key which connects both groups.  That is, one should be content in whatever state they are in when God calls them in salvation whether single or married.   He uses two examples to drive his point home: circumcision or uncircumcision and slave or free.  One of the great needs in our lives as believers is to learn contentment – for happiness and fulfillment to come from within in our relationship with God rather than from the state we might find ourselves in, whether married or single.
