Time-Out to Avoid Burn-Out; Honor Mom & Dad

June 3, 2012 Speaker: Mark Petersburg Series: Exodus

Topic: Old Testament

Commandment 4 is an exhortation to take ”Time-Out to Avoid Burn-Out.” We live lives of intense and exhaustive schedules and activities. God says, “Set aside one day for Me.” This is to be a day to rest from our labors, refocus our priorities and renew our perspective. Commandment 5 shifts the focus of the Commandments from God to others, from relationship vertically to relationship horizontally. It addresses a most foundational relationship: children to their parents. We are to honor our father and mother – not because they deserve it or because they have earned it, but because they have given us life.
