Encounters with Jesus: Pilate & Herod

September 4, 2011 Speaker: Mark Petersburg Series: Studies in Luke

Topic: The Gospels

Luke gives an account of Jesus’ betrayal and arrest.  Following Jesus’ appearance before Caiaphas, the High Priest, and then the Jewish Council, he is taken by the chief priests and scribes to two other men who would have the official “say” on the disposition of this “problem.”  Pontius Pilate and King Herod both question Jesus and find no guilt in him.  Pilate, swayed by the crowd, ultimately gives in and delivers Jesus over to his execution.
