Paul addresses a question arising from the fact that some of the believers in Thessalonica had died. What will happen to these folks and when? Paul offers comfort and encouragement that they will not only be raised up when Christ returns, but will precede living believers who will be caught up to meet Jesus when He returns in glory. This Blessed Hope should help frame the process of grieving the loss of loved ones who have died in Christ.
