We believe it's possible to know God. More than that, we believe God is actively at work in our world reaching out to people with his love.
This page is designed to help a person understand what it means to begin a relationship with God. We hope you continue reading.
The World Is Broken
You probably don't need a lot of convincing that the world around us is broken. As we look around and see pain, injustice and suffering we know that things aren't the way they're supposed to be.
Also, as we look within, at our selfish thoughts, hurtful words and actions, and callous indifference to the pain of others, there's this nagging sense that we're not the way we're supposed to be either.
And we're right!
You see, God created the world to be a place of beauty, goodness and peace and he created people to be in an intimate relationship with him. Sadly however, people chose to go their own way and ignore God's rightful rule in their lives.
The Bible calls this betrayal sin, and sin has left the world broken, and people under the judgment of God.
"Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned." - Romans 5:12
Jesus Came to Repair
But God is good, and ever since the day that we walked away from him, and got ourselves into this mess, God has been working to repair the broken relationship between himself and his creation. That work culminates in Jesus Christ, Jesus said this about why he came to earth:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." - Luke 4:18-19 (ESV)
God sent Jesus to set right what our sin had caused to go so terribly wrong. This work of redemption is made possible because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God sent Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity.
"but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 (ESV)
Faith In Jesus Restores Us
Here's how it is, we broke the law but Jesus paid our fine. The Bible teaches that anyone who puts their trust in Jesus will be rescued from their sins and given eternal life, it's that simple.
"But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ.
And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." - Romans 3:21-24 (NLT)
What's Your Decision?
