Ezekiel: Visions of Glory and a Heart Restored

When Ezekiel began his ministry, God’s people were living in exile in Babylon—displaced, discouraged, and wondering if the Lord had abandoned them. Into that despair, God called a prophet who would speak through vivid visions and powerful symbols, reminding His people that even in exile, His presence had not left them!

Ezekiel’s message is one of both judgment and renewal. It begins with the reality of sin and ends with the promise of restoration. Through it all, God reveals Himself as holy, faithful, and determined to bring His people back to life.

A Prophet Among the Exiles

Ezekiel was a priest taken to Babylon during the first wave of captivity. Far from Jerusalem, he saw visions of God’s glory—radiant, overwhelming, and unmistakable. The message was clear: God’s throne is not confined to a temple or a city. His glory fills the earth!

That truth gave hope to a scattered people. Even in foreign lands, God was still near.

The Valley of Dry Bones: God’s Power to Revive

One of Ezekiel’s most famous visions is found in chapter 37—the valley of dry bones. God asks, “Can these bones live?” and then commands Ezekiel to prophesy. As he speaks, bones come together, flesh covers them, and breath enters them. A lifeless valley becomes a living army.

It’s a picture of spiritual renewal: God can bring life where there is only death, hope where there is only despair.

For the church today, this vision reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power to restore!

Ezekiel’s prophecies may be ancient, but their heartbeat is timeless:

• God’s holiness calls us to repentance.
• His presence goes with us wherever we are.
• His Spirit can revive what feels lifeless.
• His promises lead to restoration and peace.

Ezekiel ends with a vision of a new temple and a renewed land—a symbol of God dwelling again among His people. The final words of the book capture its entire message: “The Lord is there.”

In seasons when faith feels dry or distant, Ezekiel reminds us that God’s Spirit still breathes life into His people. He restores hearts, renews hope, and rebuilds what has fallen apart. The same God who showed His glory to Ezekiel in exile is present with us today—bringing light, life, and renewal to every corner of our lives!
