The writer of the New Testament book of Hebrews illustrates what faith is in the lives of Old Testament characters. In what many call the Faith Chapter of the Bible, Hebrews 11, the first person he highlights is Abel. We see in Abel’s life obedient faith. Some instruction must have been given as to what was acceptable worship to God. As a result of his obedience, Genesis 4 says that “God had regard for Abel and his sacrifice.” If we believe God, obedience is the result. Faith that pleases God is an obedient faith.
