The Apostle Paul begins his letter to the Corinthians by reminding them of their position and identity in Christ. Before he ever lowers the boom on how they were behaving (and Paul will not hold back), he reminds them that they belong to God, have been set apart for God, and were called to be holy. This is your identity if you are a follower of Jesus Christ. And even though we don’t always live as we ought, we should be certain of our position in Christ. That remains unchanged even when God disciplines us as his children.
