Don't Lose Heart in The Race

10/12/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: The Steadfast Heart

Summary: This final message in the series, The Steadfast Heart, explores the exhortation to not lose heart in the race (of life). The Christian life is pictured as a race and the Christian as a runner. The writer of the New Testament letter of Hebrews urges his readers (and us) to run the race set before them with awareness, resolve, endurance and focus. We have a “running partner” who ran his race - a completed race that makes possible the sinner’s reconciliation with God. “Consider him (Jesus) who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”

Don't Lose Heart in Well-Doing

10/05/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: The Steadfast Heart

Summary: The exhortation to “do good” is all over the pages of the New Testament. In fact, the Apostle Paul links well-doing with our grace salvation in Ephesians 2:8-10. God delights when his children live out their salvation by doing good. No wonder, then, that Paul exhorts believers to not lose heart in doing good. It is part of our calling in salvation.

Don't Lose Heart in Suffering & Trials

09/28/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: The Steadfast Heart

Summary: Life is difficult and complex, filled with mystery and unknowns. Suffering, troubles, trials and problems are part of the human experience. We are exhorted in the New Testament to not lose heart in suffering. So, how do we do that? How do we avoid losing heart when faced with these common human experiences? We need a perspective adjustment. We need to understand that there is a greater reality than what we see and experience. There is something better, far more significant, than this life alone.

Don't Lose Heart in Criticism

09/21/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: The Steadfast Heart

Summary: Have you ever felt the sting of criticism? It hurts, doesn’t it? Particularly if it is unfounded criticism, unfair criticism, unjust criticism, or just plain misguided criticism. Both the Apostle Paul and the Old Testament character Job experienced intense criticism. Much can be learned from their examples on how to deal with criticism so you do not lose heart.

Don't Lose Heart in Prayer

09/14/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: The Steadfast Heart

Summary: Have you ever been discouraged in prayer? Maybe you didn’t receive an answer, or you didn’t receive the answer you wanted. We are encouraged in the Scriptures to not lose heart in prayer. There are three things that are important for our understanding about God that we might not be discouraged and lose heart in prayer: God’s heart, God’s purpose, and God’s method.
