Called To Freedom: Lordship - Choosing Freedom

07/27/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Called To Freedom

Summary: Liberty comes by the pathway of Lordship. In Galatians, chapter five, Paul describes the conflict between the flesh and the Spirit. The desires of these two stand in opposition to each other. The key to living in freedom, neither flaunting nor stifling liberty, is to walk in the Spirit. That is, to make the choice to live under the power and direction of God’s Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer.

Called To Freedom: License - Flaunting Freedom

07/20/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Called To Freedom

Summary: Paul declares in Galatians 5:1 - “It was for freedom that Christ set you free.” Then he warns against submitting again to a yoke of slavery. He is speaking about legalism. But he also knows that the tendency is for the pendulum to swing to the other side. And so, he warns his readers against using their freedom as a covering for evil. That is license. It addresses the person who concludes, “Well, I am free. I can do anything I please.” Paul argues for a balanced perspective: living free, neither stifling freedom with legalism nor flaunting freedom with license.

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Called To Freedom

Summary: The Apostle Paul declares, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free.” Unfortunately, this freedom is often stifled by legalism. Legalism can suck the life out of the enjoyment of the Christian life. It can also adversely affect the quality of your relationship with Jesus Christ. Beware of the hazards and the victims of legalism.

Called to Freedom: Liberty - Experiencing Freedom

07/06/14

Speaker: Mark Petersburg

Series: Called To Freedom

Summary: The Apostle Paul, writing to the churches in Galatia, declares: "For freedom Christ has set us free." But, free from what? We must understand, first of all, that we have been set free from sin and sin's consequence - death. As believers in Christ, we need to know that truth, then to believe it, and finally to live it. It is our responsibility to stand firm in the liberty for which Christ has set us free.
