Tuesday, 28 June 2011 - Jerusalem, Closing Ceremonies

Yesterday's post didn't make it onto the website until today.  Technical difficulties.  This is our last day and night in Israel and Jerusalem.  It is going to be a short post since we are about to have our last meal together and then we will visit the Jerusalem Museum on our way to the airport - they don't waste a minute on this tour, that's for sure.  One get's their money's worth on these tours and then some.  We got up at 5:30 AM today, breakfast at 6 and off to the Western Wall at the Temple Mount.  We had 20 minutes to pray and the wall was already busy with orthodox Jews praying and davening (look davening up).  We then walked underground in a tunnel the entire length of the Western Wall.  Crazy.  Then we did the Southern Stairs where some believe the apostles were when the Holy Spirit fell on Pentecost (Jewish Festival of Shavuot - Festival of Weeks).   We then headed to the City of David and did much there including hiking through Hezekiah's tunnel which brought us out at the Pool of Siloam (see John 9).  Next was lunch (bagels the size and shape of a horse collar) and then a time of sharing since some in our tour started to catch various flights to Hong Kong, etc..  Back to the hotel to clean-up, pack-up, and we will have dinner in about 45 minutes before heading off to the museum and the airport for a 1 AM Wednesday flight (Israel time ).  Sorry for the lack of detail on this last entry.  I'll do a final entry whern I get back home to Burke.  Shalom.

Hi Dad, Mom! I (and Campbell) have been trying to post comments--Campbell was especially impressed by your Dead Sea floating skills, since she's taking swim lessons right now--but so far they haven't registered on the site. I thought I'd give it one last try in the hopes that you'll see this when you land. We've been following your trek and viewing the pictures, and are glad you'll be home soon. See you this weekend. We love you!
