Our Core Values
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians: “For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).
Our primary purpose is to reveal in the world the glory of God found in the face of Christ. This is expressed in the lives of believers individually and corporately as the church. We bear visible witness to the invisible God. We declare His greatness and His goodness through the life of the church.
There are five components involved in fulfilling this purpose:
...Worship – We seek to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.
...Discipleship – We provide opportunities for all to grow spiritually
...Service – We demonstrate God’s love in the service and ministry we give to others.
...Fellowship – We seek to live in Biblical fellowship and community with each other.
...Evangelism – We want to share the truth of Jesus Christ with others.
Though affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention since its founding, Knollwood is a wholly autonomous church that is self-governed and self-supported. Our church is comprised of people from various church and denominational backgrounds who have chosen to unite around the person of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Scriptures. We extend friendship, concern and love to all.
It is our desire that every person at Knollwood find a place of ministry in serving God and others as a part of their spiritual growth and stewardship of their talents and gifts. We emphasize a simple organizational structure and a commitment to equipping all believers to serve Christ.
The worship style at Knollwood is contemporary and informal. At the same time, we are committed to excellence in all we do as a reflection of our God who is Perfect and Excellent.
We regularly observe the ordinances of Christian baptism and the Lord’s Supper (communion). In these we demonstrate our obedience to Christ’s commands and celebrate the oneness and unity we have in Christ.
